Results for the Central Jersey 200k

Postby joek » Wed Nov 06, 2013 2:33 am

Hi all, It was great to see everyone out there this past Sunday. Despite a chilly start, and a rather stiff wind on the return, 37 riders arrived at the finish with plenty of time to spare. Those that didn't make it all the way around managed to get back to the start without assistance from volunteers. Some by riding their bikes by roads other than the route to save miles and get out of the wind sooner. All finishers and DNF's alike were in good spirits. We hope to see everyone out there again next season. Results are listed below:

Apologies to Rick Lentz who somehow didn't get on the list of finishers.

Jim,

Bear in mind that there are also Permanent routes that can be ridden officially on any date the riders choose. These are great for individual rides, or small groups. There are many in the region, and they are open to any RUSA member. From your area the nearest starting point for a 200k permanent is Belmar. There are also many 100k permanents which are great for when time is more limited, or you want to avoid night riding. More information on these rides can be found at:

http://www.rusa.org/perminfo.html

I look forward to seeing you on the roads.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to the director, volunteers and fellow participants of the ride last week. It was my first brevet, and it was a splendid experience (despite bonking and cramping at the end from dehydration - first lesson learned). I look forward to many more. It amused me to think that while the 50 of us brevet entrants were challenging ourselves in our own personal way in nearly absolute solitude, some 50,000 runners were challenging themselves in the 800-pound gorilla of personal challenges, the opposite-of-solitude NYC Marathon.

The beauty of both, of course, is that nearly every participant is in their own competition against their own goals and challenges. I love the goals and challenges of randonnees, and I look forward to seeing you all in future rides.

Thanks again.
