On January 1, 2010, RUSA posted another update on registration for Paris-Brest-Paris in 2011 here: http://www.rusa.org/announce.html. I cannot emphasize enough that anyone considering PBP next year should become a member of or renew membership with RUSA immediately. It turns out that rides done in 2010 will matter for your PBP registration priority in 2011, so register now so you get credit for all those rides.
This latest announcement confirms what was long suspected: Riders completing a 1000k in 2010 will get the highest priority in PBP registration, followed by those who complete a 600k. Those wishing to a 100ok should consider the PA 1000k on August 26th. This is a very challenging event, so make sure you bring your climbing legs. RUSA recommends that those considering PBP do a full Super Randonneur series in 2010 and 2011. Of course, the SR series in 2011 is required. But doing the series in 2010 will help your registration priority and doing all four brevets will help America's country quota as well. How that quota will be computed is still somewhat unclear.
