... another 100% completion on the Eastern PA R-12 series -- Congratulations to a hardy bunch of randonneurs! I'll be submitting the results at the end of the week, and the results will then become final, pending RUSA certification. Please let me know of any corrections or other issues.
It was a great day to be out on the bike, with dry and cool conditions. While we didn't have the benefit of the favorable winds to blow us into Port Jervis this time, everybody got around the course in good time. Of special note, Naomi Scearce completed her very first brevet, riding as a stoker for her partner, Paul.
Special thanks to Len Zawodniak, for leading the way with the sign-in sheets. Bill Fischer and Carl June kept Len company, and they all finished together just under 8 hrs -- an excellent result, on a course I wouldn't call very flat.
Guy Harris writes:
"Ride was just as good the second time around! Looks like another PA classic. Thanks to my, sort of, riding companions Andy, Jonathan, Paul, and Walter for most of the course. The fixed gear pace is just slightly different from the geared bike pace on a course like this but at least we always met up at the controls.
Sorry I couldn't hang around until you and the others finished. Had to get back to go to Musikfest."
A couple of riders commented at the finish that this course is one of the nicest 200k's they've ridden ... thanks, the kind remarks are appreciated. If you've missed out on the July and August events, you'll soon be able to ride this course as a perminant -- Bill Olsen has kindly volunteered to be the owner/administrator. There's also a good chance we'll run this course one more time this year, when all the foliage is in color.
If you have any other comments, you can post them here, or e-mail them to me.
Regards,
-Tom Rosenbauer
